If you have recently been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia, you may be looking for the reactive hypoglycemia cure. I know I was when I was first diagnosed. Depending on the intensity of your condition, life can be very frustrating. It can be a constant roller coaster. What is Reactive Hypoglycemia? First, what is this condition? If you have just been diagnosed, you probably have some idea of what it is. In short it makes you feel horrible. But technically reactive hypoglycemia is just another type of hypoglycemia. It's low blood sugar that comes about after eating simple starches like pasta, cake, sugary cereals, candy, white potatoes, potato chips, breads, etc. These types of foods cause insulin in the body to surge thus causing your blood sugar levels to crash leaving you feeling horrible. What are the Symptoms? The symptoms of reactive hypoglycemia can be something as simple as fatigue, or more serious side effects like tremors and tachycardia (high heart rate). Other symptoms are hunger, irritability, dizziness, panic attacks, flushing, weakness and the list goes on and on. What is the Difference in Reactive Hypoglycemia and Hypoglycemia? Again, reactive hypoglycemia is just a type of hypoglycemia. - It comes about from what a person eats. Hypoglycemia is often associated with people who have diabetes because they take insulin, and too much insulin can cause blood sugar to drop to very low levels leaving a person with some nasty symptoms. Sometimes hypoglycemia can even be very dangerous for people with diabetes. Because of this, diabetics on insulin must monitor their glucose levels very closely. What is the Cure? In short, there is no cure. Meaning, you can't just simply take a pill, or get a vaccination and be done with it. Most likely it's going to be something you have to learn to cope with and control. - And to do this you are going to have to watch your diet closely. People with hypoglycemia should eat foods that are low on the glycemic index. This includes complex carbs, foods high in protein, cheeses, strawberries, blueberries, meat, fish, chicken, eggs. Also, people who suffer from this problem should be sure to eat regularly scheduled meals. Do not skip meals ever. This can lead to problems. Of course you will want to stay away from sugary foods and simple starches that will spike your blood sugar. As always, consult with your physician before starting a new diet or changing your current diet. This is especially important if you are on any medications and/or have a medical condition.
